WASHINGTON – Convicted felon Tony Rezko. Unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers. And the race-baiting Rev. Jeremiah Wright. It is hard to think of any presidential candidate before Barack Obama sporting associations with three more execrable characters. Yet let the McCain campaign raise the issue, and the mainstream media begin fulminating about dirty campaigning tinged with racism and McCarthyite guilt by association.
It seems when I bring this and other similar issues up about Barack Obama it is some kind of evil and bad thing. Well I have called the Democratic leadership in the North Carolina general Assembly corrupt for their good ol’ boy politics. Read the following quote and think hard before you decide to vote for Barack Obama.
This was patently absurd. Racism is treating people differently and invidiously on the basis of race. Had any white presidential candidate had a close 20-year association with a white preacher overtly spreading race hatred from the pulpit, that candidate would have been not just universally denounced and deemed unfit for office but written out of polite society entirely.
Obama’s political career was launched with Ayers giving him a fundraiser in his living room. If a Republican candidate had launched his political career at the home of an abortion-clinic bomber he would not have been able to run for dogcatcher in Podunk. And Ayers shows no remorse. His only regret is that he “didn’t do enough.”
Obama is not the first politician to rise through a corrupt political machine. But he is one of the rare few to then have the audacity to present himself as a transcendent healer, hovering above and bringing redemption to the “old politics” — of the kind he had enthusiastically embraced in the service of his own ambition.

New leadership needed to correct problems
Charlotte, N.C. – The following is a statement from Mayor Pat McCrory, the Republican nominee for governor, in response to news that employees at Cherry Hospital accepted money from drug companies and foreign medical schools to visit destinations such as Hawaii and Hungary:
“The Easley-Perdue administration continues to lurch from one crisis to another in mental health care. In the latest scandal, managers at Cherry Hospital took money from a nonprofit foundation created to benefit the hospital’s patients to spend on catered meals and a staff retreat. This follows the director of Central Regional Hospital stepping down after using money intended for patients use to have her portrait made. In typical administration fashion, the former Central Hospital administrator was sent to Cherry Hospital to help correct problems there.
“The mismanagement in mental health is so systemic that it will require a complete change of attitude and management to solve the crisis. While both Gov. Easley and Lt. Gov. Perdue sit in silence, patients are in danger, hospitals are losing accreditation, and taxpayer’s dollars are being misspent.
“Over the last year, Broughton Hospital lost and regained accreditation, Cherry Hospital lost accreditation and the new Central Regional Hospital is about to lose accreditation. At the same time, administration officials have been unrelenting in their drive to close Dorothea Dix Hospital which may cause it to lose accreditation. Loss of accreditation at Broughton cost taxpayers $1 million a month and the loss of accreditation at Cherry Hospital is costing taxpayers $800,000 a month. In addition, over $400 million has been misspent in reform efforts.
“In order to improve our mental health system, we must hold people accountable for mismanagement and scandal. Second, we must change the culture of striving for minimum standards and set the goal to achieve excellence. Third, we must admit mistakes and not continue down the wrong road simply because some people are stubborn. Fourth, we must improve the caliber of training for mental health care workers. Most importantly, we need the leadership of a new administration.
“It is obvious that reform of our mental health care system must come from outside the present administration. Lt. Gov. Perdue is part of the problem and should not be entrusted with the major task of correcting a broken Mental Health system.”

Here is a quick look into 3 former Fannie Mae executives who have brought down Wall Street. This is from dap19 a poster on Talking About Politcs.
Franklin Raines was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae. Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe irregulaties in Fannie Mae’s accounting activities. At the time of his departure The Wall Street Journal noted, ‘ Raines, who long defended the company’s accounting despite mounting evidence that it wasn’t proper, issued a statement late Tuesday conceding that ‘mistakes were made‘ and saying he would assume responsibility as he had earlier promised. News reports indicate the company was under growing pressure from regulators to shake up its management in the wake of findings that the company’s books ran a foul of generally accepted accounting principles for four years.’ Fannie Mae had to reduce ts surplus by $9 billion. Raines left with a ‘golden parachute valued at $240 Million in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear. http://housingdoom.com/2006/12/18/fannie-charges/ . The Government noted, ‘The 101 charges reveal how the individuals improperly manipulated earnings to maximize their bonuses, while knowingly neglecting accounting systems and internal controls, misapplying over twenty accounting principles and misleading the regulator and the public. The Notice explains how they submitted six years of misleading and inaccurate accounting statements and inaccurate capital reports that enabled them to grow Fannie Mae in an unsafe and unsound manner.’ These charges were made in 2006. The Court ordered Raines to return $50 Million Dollars he received in bonuses based on the miss-stated Fannie Mae profits.
Tim Howard was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae. Howard ‘was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a ’stable pattern of earnings‘ at Fannie. In everyday English – he was cooking the books. The Government Investigation determined that, ’Chief Financial Officer, Tim Howard, failed to provide adequate oversight to key control and reporting functions within Fannie Mae,’ On June 16, 2006, Rep. Richard Baker, R-La., asked the Justice Department to investigate his allegations that two former Fannie Mae executives lied to Congress in October 2004 when they denied manipulating the mortgage-finance giant’s income statement to achieve management pay bonuses. Investigations by federal regulators and the company’s board of directors since concluded that management did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses. Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004. Howard’s Golden Parachute was estimated at $20 Million!
Jim Johnson is a former executive at Lehman Brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO. A look at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s May 2006 report on mismanagement and corruption inside Fannie Mae, and you’ll see some interesting things about Johnson. Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson’s 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million.’ Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae. Johnson’s Golden Parachute was estimated at $28 Million.
WHERE
ARE THEY NOW?
FRANKLIN RAINES?
Raines works for the Obama Campaign as Chief Economic Advisor.
TIM HOWARD?
Howard is also a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama.
JIM JOHNSON?
Johnson hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama’s Vice Presidential Search Committee.

RALEIGH – More students in North Carolina failed reading tests in the spring than in previous years as a result of new tests and new standards, the state Board of Education said today.
But statewide, passing rates dropped by double digit percentages for students in third through eighth grades.
The results won’t affect individual students or teacher bonuses.
It is amazing that the school system is doing a worst job than they say they are doing educating our children, yet their Bonuses remain intact.
We need to change the philosophy and direction of our state government or we will continue to receive inferior services from Schools, Roads, Mental and Physical Healthcare, and all State Agencies with the tax money we pay.
I will be responsive to all of district 33 and North Carolina’s citizens.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC – The Republican Governors Association released a new television advertisement today that shows how Bev Perdue’s broken promises have cost North Carolina thousands of jobs. It can be viewed at www.statusquobev.com.
“Bev Perdue manipulated North Carolinians by signing a no new tax pledge and then presiding over $6 billion in job-killing taxes,” said RGA Communications Director Chris Schrimpf. “Her manipulation continues during this campaign. She talks about ethics and then uses DOT Board members to give to her campaign before forcing them to resign.”
Since Bev Perdue has been Lieutenant Governor, she’s presided over $6 billion in new taxes and almost 150,000 jobs have been lost including 80,000 to China.
“Perdue is skipping debates and canceling fundraisers with crooked allies; her manipulative machinations are finally catching up to her,” Schrimpf added.

Perdue Caught in Another Fundraising Scandal
McCrory Campaign Calls on Her to Return Tainted Contributions
Charlotte, N.C. – The McCrory for Governor Campaign today called on Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue to return contributions tied to Louis and Billy Sewell and their family after The Raleigh News & Observer reported that Louis Sewell was a fundraiser for Perdue and used his position on the Department of Transportation Board to benefit himself and his business partners. (http://www.newsobserver.com/politics/story/1226696.html)
“Lt. Gov. Perdue has a long history of fundraising impropriety,” said McCrory Campaign Manager Richard Hudson. “Whether it is funds from the nursing home industry she had to return, funds from a disgraced DOT board member she had to return, the series of SBI investigations into her fundraising practices, two of her fundraisers involved in a DENR bribery case, or the recent allegations about the Sewells, she has an ethical cloud hanging over her head.
“Louis and Billy Sewell are key fundraisers for the lieutenant governor in Eastern North Carolina. She needs to immediately refund any contributions she has received from the Sewell family, as well as any checks they have ‘bundled’ for her,” Hudson said.
Based on reports with the State Board of Elections, Perdue’s campaigns have received $37,500 directly from the Sewell family during the past eight years. Since she rolled her lieutenant governor campaign funds into her current committee, there is no way to separate the contributions.

Rush Limbaugh in the Wall Street Journal.
Mr. Obama’s campaign is now trafficking in prejudice of its own making. And in doing so, it is playing with political dynamite. What kind of potential president would let his campaign knowingly extract two incomplete, out-of-context lines from two radio parodies and build a framework of hate around them in order to exploit racial tensions? The segregationists of the 1950s and 1960s were famous for such vile fear-mongering.
People were outraged and the local media in some cases did not air the NCGOP ad that tied Moore and Perdue to Obama and called them too extreme for North Carolina. Yet the ad that is being broadcast in Spanish to communities in four states is being allowed to be aired unimpeded. Barack Obama and his surrogates are constantly playing the race card, and in this case using bigoted and racists attacks and tactics.
Every candidate that has ties or has openly endorsed the Obama campaign bears responsibility in this. Perdue, Hagan, Blue, and Butterfield are four that I can name off of the top of my head.
There is no place for this in modern campaigns and Barack Obama should withdraw the ads and apologize to the American people.

NEWS&OBSERVER
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Brad Miller wants the Department of Justice to come out of the dark and embrace the sunlight.
We all know this is a politically motivated attack on the Bush administration’s handling on the War on Terror. Should the unfortunate event of Obama getting elected happens, will this effort go away? I do believe that Brad Miller’s support of the hate blog The Daily KOS and his articles there have done more harm to our national security than what Bush has done to prevent any further terrorist attacks on US soil.
Miller, a Raleigh Democrat, introduced legislation today that would force the Justice agency to give more information to Congress about what he calls “secret law.”
People are naive if they think any secret information given to Congress will remain secret. Brad Miller’s efforts will just get our brave Americans overseas killed who are are doing the actual fighting against the terrorist and their supporting countries like Iran, Syria, and North Korea.
