Our children deserve better

By pterrell

I wrote the following two paragraphs to Josh of the N&O in response to his article. Our children need to be treated all the same and each one recognized for their own uniqueness. All children are born cute and have no prejudices until they are learned. You are a widely read forum. Can you try to get something through people’s heads about that we are all Americans and to hold the school leaders accountable for their failures. Do not punish the children.

Until we repair or recreate a working school system our kids will suffer. The failure of the democratic leaders on a local and state levels is apparent in the statistics and inability of kids to read and write after graduating from high school. I can say democrats because aside from very rare instances the democrats have run this state since Reconstruction. And if Republicans are given a chance to fix this democratic mess, it will take years to fix the education system.

Since school districts for elected officials does not work and since 72 of 100 counties have at-large districts, maybe we need to go to a 5-4 election of districts to at-large elected school board seats here in Wake County. Something needs to change and change for the better. Because right now our Wake County schools are a abysmal failure. Blame the democrats? Yes, because they are the ones in charge any way you try to sugar coat it.
